yup, testing the bristol board again. This character is for instant comics - so I get to post online anything I want. its annoying - the other project I was working on today can't be posted online or printed EVER ... :( at leased its practice.

she wont appear this week .... but hopefully will in 3 weeks time. (providing I'm satisfied with the script by then)

I don't care if you think her trainers are completely out of place and look stupid.

but also - you can now watch that animation I did for uni in good quality

I thought I only had a crappy small version - looks like I was wrong. theres still pixelation and stuff - but that was my fault (not youtubes)

came out OK  ........ :|

trying out bristol board tho - so far it seems worth it. still not sure about the price .... I might try some cheaper card. see if that has the same effect.

I have a wisdom tooth coming through at the top of my mouth. I think I've been grinding my teeth in my sleep and waking myself up. lol last time a tooth came through the gum kept flapping around and food would get stuck under (why do I find that so entertaining? should we be worried?)
yes ... I am half a tooth wiser than I was a couple of weeks ago.

I bought some bristol board to try out ... so I think I'm gonna go do that today.

L-R: Theo, Peter, Brett and Tim

LOL. theo is going out to a fluorescent rave?

the scanner killed the colours .,.. lots T_________T awh well ... I enjoyed colouring while watching glastonbury again ...

gah then I got out wipeout fusion on the PS2. @______@ SO AMAZING. lol ... they may as well added strobe lights and given away free glowsticks with that game. only it doesn't have any of my saved data so I have to unlock things again. awh well. and I was playing it like I had the motion sensor like in the wii controlers.at first  >.<;;; oops.

lol I had far too much fun drawing this. they're all old characters so its special. umm ...
left to right: Theo, Peter, Brett and Tim (click for interesting/funny old drawings)

GAH they look like they're about to burst into singing the YMCA

they're half lauras and half mine ... umm .... theo on the right started off as a fan character but manages to slot himself into almost anything I draw. >.<;;;

hahahaaa they all accidently have short bodies and long legs or maybe just big heads as well. oh well ... doesn't really matter.

I drew this because I miss drawing these guys and I never seem to find the time. plus I always feel like static stuff like this is a waste of my time and I beat myself up afterwards. I also miss this style of lineart/colouring (I hopefully will find the time to colour this with pencil crayons)

Yeh, I've been out and about this weekend .... pretending to be cooler than I am.
I've been doing drawings at Godiva festival all weekend. its a local free festival .... there wasn't really any bands I was interested in seeing .... but its free entry and the weather was too nice to be cooped up inside.

it was nice having the outdoor stage. when I've been before you spend the day in a stuffy tent. didn't rain much either. :)

These drawings are from friday night. I was there in the everning with my parents. we had a good time. they bought a fish finger sandwich XD. I didn't do much drawing because it got dark ... these where the best but I messed up the shape of the main tent.

I like some of the smaller stages too ... but it feels awkward drawing a band when they can see you're doing it. lol had some people watching at this point too ... had some strange questions asked - the same ones that people used to ask at school ... o____o its strange ... I've noticed when out location drawing sometimes people think its like street entertainment.

this is from sunday. I did go on saturday - with laura. but we didn't have time to draw much. mostly because we walked and its time consuming to walk that kind of distance. I'm glad I went back because the drawings from sunday are much better than friday because I had the time. also - getting there early meant I could sit right near to the mainstage.

yeh, moved round to get a different view. I have more drawings than I'm posting - because some of them are pretty poor. >.<;;;; its hard to draw with pen you know! these guys where like a barber shop choir.

ummm ... got busier when these bands where on. theres a couple of different things on this page. The Yeah You's and the Austin Francis Connection.

I went into a folk tent for a bit .... but the guy with the ukulele is from The King Blues - it was busy by that point - so I gave up drawing. lol they're kinda punky and political and had everyone chanting swear words at 5.30pm .... there where loads of kids around so they're bound to get some complaints. They seemed impressed The Specials are form Coventry.

but the food is expensive. @______@ but they had FALAFEL. (I totally need to learn how to make my own) lol ... look at my geeky man sandals. (I have stripy tanned feet from the sun - its very attractive)

yeh ... I woke up today and realised I should probably be completing a page of comic a day .... gah ... gonna see transformers 2 today .... at leased its free. I need to cram in so much stuff from now on. I've totally wasted a month of time. now its back to solid working.

gah I keep getting distracted by my mums old guitar being in my room. I've not played it for about a year - so its been difficult re-learning chords. I play  bass guitar more (because I learned it first) but bass is much easier - and a lot less painful. bass strings are thick so they don't wear the skin and give blisters like normal strings. . lol I taught myself bass and guitar .... so I'm pretty rubbish at both of them .... I need to master the F chord again. but hey - bands only need 4 to 6 chords, right?

I've done a lot less work this week than what I'd normally try to cram. I'll try and get more done today - it will hopefully feel much cooler.

urgh, I think I'm only posting all these crappy sketches because I get a lot of people go "UGH STUDENTS" when they find out I have 2 more months away from uni ... and no job (theres no jobs anyway) ... so the automatic assumption is that I'm sitting on my backside in a park enjoying the heatwave. but EWW heatwaves are crappy! and I'd rather be working! .... so I am. (I just get the advantage to chose when and where I work with only a couple of deadlines.)

yeh, I'm colouring today ... digital colouring ... which I really don't enjoy right now ... because my printer is out of ink so I can't test these colours without the hassle of moving my laptop or waiting for the ink to come. yeh - its not finished. the people arn't coloured in yet. I'm pretty pleased with the spray paint splatter. I've never tried anything like that before. I think its kind of successful - particularly behind the logo.

this is the older version of the posters - which I did just to test the style. the hand drawn lettering didn't come out well ... and the colouring was very frustrating. I coloured this one about 7 different ways before settling on this - and I still don't like it. it printed terrible. it was decided less is more so when I finally got round to proper layout ideas the larger characters where scrapped and the whole thing was inked again. (thats was mostly to spend as little time possible on the PC.)

urggh, cars are SO ANNOYING. and I did the bad thing of just picking cars I was interested. ^^; I'm just making use of the local free stuff. I should probably see if theres anything elaborate going on in birmingham. I always feel stupid going out to draw on my own - but then when I take a friend I'm worried they're board our their brains. gah.

28th-Jun-2009 05:02 pm - long 'catch up' post ...
Strawberries
Rasberries
Blueberries
Gooseberries
Glastonberries

(sorry for my crap 'dry sence of humour' .... I couldn't resist )

:) I'm enjoying being able to watch lots of awesome bands up close and in the dry. :( nicely edited camera angles means you can't really sketch like at a real gig tho. not that I'd get anywhere near the must see bands at glastonbury anyway. would end up watching them on a tv like the rest of the country.

heres some location drawing form the week - starting with drawings of the doctor who costumes we went to see last saturday. I'll be going back sometime soon to do more and nicer drawings. the paper is coloured because they're doodled in a rough book I made from old coloured paper. I find it much easier to draw on rough scraps like this because I don't feel like I'm ruining something like a moleskin. altho this book fell appart a bit - so I was doing the staples again today - and I put the cover on upside down. XD lol ... so now there are a lot of staple holes from all my mistakes. seems secure now tho.

funny how when I dropped that 'daily draw' book I drew more .... yeh ... ^^;

clockwork robots are one of my faves ... but you couldn't take the mask off to have a good luck. :( and my drawing came out rather silly. I need to go back. I like my ood scribbles better tho.

hath was awesome - was surprised to see it there.

yeh, messed up another drawing of the clockwork android .... and then I only really wanted to draw the slitheen's claw ... but I messed that up too because I drew it between the paper. out of proportion darlek - eww!

yeh - that famous bit of the italian job with the minis in the sewer was filmed in coventry .... so the transport museum has a mini that sings a song while you draw it. I need to keep going back there ... all my car drawings are crappy. I need to learn.

also on this yellow page - never mentioned I have a relative who's preforming in the westend? last night he was trying to raise money to study at a private school in london to follow his dreams. :) was a really nice event. did some doodles. he's the one with the hat. altho - looks nothing like him. >.<;;;

and yes - that IS McDonalds .... we like the price of their icecream compared to most places. (you can still get a "99" for UNDER £1 ... which seems rare these days) and we also like their aircon

Did you watch britans got talent? my family doesn't normally watch. but the singing family on the left got to the semi finals. saw them sing some michael jackson songs last night (my sister seemed surprised - but they were the songs they sang on TV) ... umm and the kid in the middle had his own little fan club forming. and everyone melts when those girls sing.

I have more ... but I'm kind of hungry and have other stuff to do - so I'll post that stuff a different day.
